Working with one of the world's most influential architectural firms, Gwathmey, Siegel & Associates Architects out of New York, CYS provided structural engineering services for the new 125,000 SF expansion of the first art museum established in the Western United States.The Health Systems Education Building consists of two structurally separate, plan irregular, four-story buildings totaling approximately 120,000 SF.

Our story actually begins in 1963 when Eugene Cole and Jimmie Yee paired up to open one of the few structural engineering offices in Sacramento, Cole and Yee Structural Engineers. Ken Luttrell was the very first employee of the firm. When Carl Schubert became a partner, the name of the firm changed to Cole, Yee, Schubert & Associates.
Our office just completed a review with OSHPD, contracted to CYS, on an $84 million, 254,000 SF new hospital tower. We found the review to be very thorough, yet reasonable, based on their experience as "real world" structural engineers - - and consistent for the duration of the review. They were polite and helpful with any questions we had.
The engineers at CYS Structural Engineers are encouraged to contribute their time and knowledge to both professional and community services. Four CYS Principals have been recognized by the Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC) with the title of Fellow, an honor bestowed by their peers in recognition of their outstanding service and accomplishments in the field of structural engineering.
