My husband and I encountered a property line dispute with my neighbor. So, the first time I contacted RAR, back in either Sept or Oct 2020, the man I spoke with, presumably the owner or foreman, seemed as if he wasn't interested in taking on the job of a small property survey. I called around to other companies and no one else was available. I contacted RAR a second time and again, I sensed hesitancy.
It seemed as if he assumed we couldn't afford their services ($120/hr), which was an incorrect assumption. I was willing to pay the premium price to settle the dispute with my neighbor. He finally agreed to take on the job. So, in November 2020, two gentlemen came out and performed the survey. Both were very nice (and funny). The end result was satisfactory however, they could not figure out where the 3 1/2 - 4ft discrepancy is in the back end of our and the neighbors property.
We were told it was 99.9% likely we actually owned more (as in the neighbors garage would be on our property) but, they could not say for 100% sure so, they could not grant it in our favor. So now we have this weird property line between us and the neighbor. While I know I don't understand the ins and outs of how a survey is done, I was still disappointed that we could not be provided with a definitive result.
I guess that's just the way it can be with old property. I'm not blaming them, though. They did their best. Lastly, initially I assumed we'd receive a copy of blueprints. I remember mentioning to the company that I wanted them to put with the deed at the courthouse. I later learned that there's an additional (minor) fee for blueprints. No big deal. All in all, it was a positive experience.

So, I just called these folks as part of my dissertation research to request an interview with one of their engineers. The receptionist (presumably, she did not introduce herself) chose to hang up on me, rather than pass along my request to their engineers or to simply decline. I had previously spoken with someone at the same company the evening before who had told me to call them back in the morning and they would ask around to see if someone would be willing to talk to me. A simple "we choose not to participate in your research" would have been fine, there is no need to be rude.
