The purpose of our web site is to allow our clients, friends, and visitors to become familiar with our organization and to provide useful information regarding geotechnical engineering and geology in Northern California. Feel free to call or email. The methods to explore a site is a key to understanding the subsurface soil, bedrock, and groundwater conditions.

We utilize a variety of methods to recover samples of the subsurface materials. We have completed over 6000 projects in the greater San Francisco Bay Area ranging from large commercial developments to small single-family residential additions.

The majority of our projects have been in Northern and Central California, however, we have performed investigations in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and Southern California.

In many parts of the United States the geologic conditions are relatively uniform and the demand for soil engineering is relatively low. In these areas, architects, civil and structural engineers can rely upon the Uniform Building Code for conservative soil design criteria for most projects. This is not the case in the Bay Area and relying upon the building code alone can lead to problems. The geology of the greater Bay Area is very complex and almost every geologic hazard on our planet occurs in this very relatively tiny area.
Should I have a Geotechnical Engineer inspect a home or building I am considering purchasing? With the real estate market very active in the Bay Area at this time this is a question that we are constantly asked. A geotechnical inspection can be a great aid to a perspective buyer or seller. In some cases it can provide reassurance that the property has not had any soil related problems.
