Shot peening is the process of blasting the surface of a metal piece with small spheres of cut wire, steel, glass bead or ceramic media to strengthen and increase fatigue life of the material. Shot peening is a cold work process used to finish metal parts to prevent fatigue and stress corrosion failures and prolong product life for the part.
