I was looking for an Engineer to help consult on my row house renovation in Sunset Park Brooklyn, I found AVT Engineering who was luckily located in the area. Joe responded quickly and professionally. He gave me the right information I needed to demolish some walls and help explain next steps. I was referred to Joe by my employer who had used AVT Engineering for herself and some of her clients' buildings. My modest kitchen remodel requires me to service a certificate to removing a partition wall and to confirm that it is not load bearing. At first, I thought that an engineering firm wouldn't be interested or put me on the back burner, but can I just say: Joe was so responsive from the beginning.

He called me back within an hour and researched my building and whatever structural information he could glean from public records and pictures of the building while I was in the phone discussing the scope of work. Joe was always responsive through emails, patiently answering all my questions in the process until he ultimately inspected the wall and provided a certificate.

The Engineer Report was delivered to me in less than 24 hours from my inspection. I can't thank Joe and AVT enough. Time was of the essence and his services was a paramount importance to breach the first threshold to my modest remodel. I highly recommend AVT Engineering for your engineering needs. Large and small. His knowledge is vast and personal investment in his clients is exceptional.

Joe is the absolute best! We hired him to take over as the engineer for our gut renovation of a townhouse in Brooklyn after experiencing multiple issues of honesty, reliability, and professionalism with our previous engineer. Our project was at a crucial, make-or-break stage at that point, and we needed an engineer who could step in and deliver with excellent performance without missing a beat. Joe was that guy, and then some.

He had me walk with him through out the inspection and picked up a few things my contractor and I missed. He walked us through everything he saw, as well as some potential issues that couldn't yet be addressed but that he knew were common to this type of structure for its age and condition. Joe did an inspection for us before we sign the contract to buy a new apartment and was extremely helpful. He was obviously very knowledgeable, professional, and made sure to explain everything he found to us. He was also able to do the inspection very quickly after we contacted avt and provided us with a written report and a digital one on the spot as soon as the inspection was complete.

Missed scores of issues and charged $600 for about 45 minutes. Inspection is probably the most important part of home buying so will definitely do my research next time instead of just using whoever the agent recommends.

I was referred to Joe by several brokers at Compass. We're buying a townhouse apartment that is over 100 years old but was re-built 15 years ago so naturally we had a lot of concerns. Joe was incredible. He's not just a home inspector but a licensed professional engineer. For the first part of the inspection, I had him personally meet with the builder. Joe grilled him about everything in regards to the entire construction, foundation, materials, and equipment.

His approach was professional and thorough. He then spent another hour testing everything in the apartment. He gave me expected lifespans of everything affecting both the building and our apartment. He also gave us maintenance tips and potential repair costs. At the end, he leaves you with a final inspection report that is more thorough than any I've ever seen. It covers everything. I could not recommend Joe more highly.

Joe is terrific. We have used him twice and were very happy with his feedback both times. I had a very different experience from the previous reviewer both times I used Joe (5 years apart) so I am not sure what the deal was with that situation. Joe was referred to me by three top brokers, all of which had used him for their own homes. I appreciated that he will go through and tell you things about the structure and code that can help you save time and money in the future. He is realistic about what needs to be done NOW and what needs to be done in the future.

Joseph will charge you $300+ for almost an hour of his time. He will hand you a generic binder with random stuff that has nothing to do with the home you might buy and print out his half assed findings. Joseph will miss several issues in his rush to get out of the house that you are paying him to review. In our case he cost us several to tens of thousand of dollars that we didn't expect to sink in to a house right away. Don't use him. Find better. Any good inspector on a large home will spend a couple to a few hours looking it over correctly.
