For more than 30 years, the principal at Applied Coastal has been assisting government agencies (Federal, State, and local) and commercial clients with coastal project planning, design, permitting, and implementation.
Services
Shoreline changes document subaerial dynamics of the land-water boundary in response to various coastal processes, particularly those associated with storm events. Applied Coastal personnel specialize in quantification and interpretation of historical trends in shoreline position, bathymetry, and wetland area relative to dominant coastal processes.
Regional coastal sediment transport processes influence the evolution of sedimentary environments to varying degrees depending on temporal and spatial response scales. A detailed evaluation of these processes provides valuable information to support and inform scientific investigations, engineering studies, and coastal restoration efforts.
Current and projected rates of relative sea-level rise can be used to inform adaptive management, and support project planning. To provide the most accurate rates possible, Applied Coastal personnel rely on various data sets, such as local water level time-series records, GPS elevation surveys, sea-level rise projections, storm surge scenarios, and satellite altimetry data, to identify current and future flooding risks at various project scales.
