Odor Science and Engineering, Inc., (OS&E) founded in 1987 and headquartered in Bloomfield, CT with a field office in California, is recognized as one of the world's leading specialized odor consulting companies. OS&E's services range from odor problem definition through establishing control requirements to design of cost-effective control systems.

Odor emission sampling, odor panel analysis, ambient odor monitoring and training of client staff in odor investigation and monitoring procedures are some of our other specialized services.
Services
For existing facilities OS&E specializes in diagnosing and solving odor pollution problems including the identification of what sources need to be controlled, how much control is required and specifying cost-effective controls. For new facilities, OS&E designs appropriate ventilation and odor control systems to prevent odor pollution problems from occurring after the new facility becomes operational.
OS&E provides training services to clients for conducting routine ambient odor monitoring of odors downwind of the client's facility to identify and quantify ambient odors and trace them back to their source(s). Many clients wish to conduct such surveys so corrective measures can be taken as soon as possible to prevent ambient odors from becoming a nuisance.
Based on odor emission inventories and odor impact assessment, OS&E typically determines the degree of odor reduction needed for each source to prevent objectionable odors downwind from a facility. We then identify the odor control options capable of providing the needed odor reduction.
As OS&E's Senior Odor Scientist, Ms. O'Brien oversees OS&E's Sensory Laboratory and serves as Project Manager for OS&E field projects involving odor measurement, identification and control. Over the last 25+ years she has directed many project activities including field sampling programs, odor panel evaluations, and atmospheric dispersion modeling analyses for a wide variety of industries including wastewater treatment plants, composting facilities, landfills, resource recovery facilities, petroleum refineries, rendering operations, food processing plants, automotive assembly plants, foundries, and the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
