We identify structural shortcomings. Through our reverse engineering process that requires precise measurements, sampling, testing, load calculations, and skilled analysis we identify conditions causing cracks, distress, and/or failures.We also present a practical mitigation or restoration plan.

PEE provides you with an accurate geological performance analyses and clear plan for corrective action resulting from our meticulous documentation and site assessments. PEE can perform subsurface investigations in complex cases, providing actionable reports resulting from our expert analyses of all applicable documents and the skillful, accurate use of various engineering tools.
Municipal and building officials now review grading design documents in great detail and require much more information regarding sub-surface conditions. Hillside projects, many of which are in southern California, require extensive grading operations to develop the level pad onto which buildings will be constructed.
Foundations experience distress resulting numerous issues, such as geological. However, soil movements are not the only cause of distress in foundations. Issues such as over-loading, inadequate depth, inadequate steel reinforcement, improper construction, exposure to excessive moisture, and/or age can also affect performance of foundations for buildings.
Older buildings are not constructed with adequate protection against major seismic events. Buildings that are constructed with Unreinforced Masonry (URMs) are subject to a collapse when exposed to a major event. This threat is not unique to buildings that are constructed with URMs. In general, buildings that are constructed prior to 1950 have minimal provisions to resist lateral loads, and as such, they do not perform well during an earthquake, and/or during high winds.They lack elements such as anchoring of the structure to the foundation, plywood sheathing, and/or metal connectors in critical areas.

Private Eyes Engineers saved us from making a terrible home purchase. Massoud was knowledgable, punctual and very professional. His expertise and experience allows him to size up soil and geological conditions that impact a home's stability and condition. We used him again on our next attempt at purchasing a home weeks later and again, his insight with tests and measurements helped us to decide how to proceed armed with a clear picture of the homes true condition and what scenerios we may likely encounter in the future.
The information he arms you with is well worth his fees and we would not think of purchasing a home without his inspection.
