As a consulting engineering firm, PSE wants to create greater value for its clients. PSE is innovating and streamlining its work so that engineers, fabricators and contractors can work in sync with the same model and database. By using 3D modeling and working hand in glove with fabricators and contractors, the process from design to installation can be shortened, errors can be reduced, and overall quality enhanced.
Founded in the summer of 1991 by Merrill Shumway in his basement with 3 other partners, PSE had a short-lived tenure there working as electrical engineers. In the fall of that year, PSE moved into their first office and began their controls and automation division. PSE quickly doubled, then tripled in size, for its first two years working primarily in electrical engineering.
While establishing itself as a trusted source for engineering, PSE has spent 25 years providing engineering and design services in the petrochemical industry. PSE has worked with refineries, gas plants, chemical plants and in the plastics industry including many large companies such as BP, Chevron and Tesoro, as well as with small start-up companies making railroad ties from recycled tires, or recycling PET.
