I talked with Jim Moran first when getting my contract terms for property line survey for my house. All people Jim, office manager Heather, and the surveyors Jack and Kyle were professional and responded promptly even outside normal office hours. I received efficient service at reasonable price that I recommended them to others for their survey needs.

Excellent service! I had Moran Engineering performed a land boundary survey a year ago and recently a field survey for construction skating of a new house on my lot in Berkeley. Jim Moran and his team was very responsive, professional and accommodated me to get the surveys done in short time. I am very appreciative of his promptness in doing the research, surveying & communication. His works are complete and thorough and he was very pleasant to work with!

###BEWARE HORRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICE!### This is the WORST company for surveyors out there. AWFUL! Everett Moran does not keep his word which is extremely important for customer service and most of all for a business. This company strung us along and had us waiting for an estimate when they had no intention of taking on our job initially. We called Moran Engineering with a property line issue on a Friday.
Mr Moran himself took all of our details and said he would call back us with an estimate. We did not hear from him and so followed up with him with a call to him on Tuesday afternoon. We were advised that Mr Moran was in a meeting the woman we spoke to relayed a message from him to us that he would call us back in 20 minutes. Needless to say he did not call back. Followed up again on Friday morning and spoke with a Tom Swann. Tom said he would check in with Mr Moran and would call us back that day, i did not hear from Tom with the update so we called him at 3pm to check in.
I was told by a Moran representative to be patient, and that someone would call me back later on that day or on Monday for sure. This is their go to line, especially Everett Moran's. At 3.37pm we received a call from Tom Swann, who left a vm.stating, to quote him - "Everett, says that we do not do a lot of work in your 'NEIGHBORHOOD' and because of that is reluctant to take on the job, and you would be best suited finding someone who has worked in your 'neighborhood' before" Um, so if we lived in Alameda he would have come out?
But because we live in Oakland you won't? Your business says Berkeley and surrounding areas.are you being 'selective'? Why won't you come to our 'Neighborhood'? Everett Moran had our address for a week and knew the location and all of a sudden does not want to take on the job. He also prefaced the vm with being busy and are 6-7 weeks out.then followed it with the 'neighborhood' disgusting excuse.
Why did he offer to send us an estimate? Absolutely shady business practices and awful customer service. Please be aware of this company, especially if you are in the 'neighborhood' of Oakland CA. Wish I could give zero stars. Horrible experience.

Terrible business! It takes them a couple days to get back to us with one simple questions. I would not recommended this business to anyone specially if you are looking for results in a timely manner ( this company is not for you) As many reviewers have said good thing about them, I wonder if they get paid to do so. once again, it's terrible, terrible business.

They sound very professional on the phone which I didn't mind paying them the extra money comparing to the other surveyors that I talked to. But after you paid them, if you need them as a follow up, their tone will change, in a way that you tell yourself what a dumb I was when I hired them. No Customer service at all., if you hire them don't pay them in full unless you are 100% sure they completed the job, including filing the map with the county and any other issues that might come up in doing a survey. My neighbor hired another guy who has been very responsive; he makes an effort to satisfy his customer.

What a ROCKSTAR! I called Mr. Moran (Everett) regarding a initial question I had in anticipating to a property line dispute with a soon to be new owner of my neighbors home. SInce I purchased my home from the bank (foreclosure) in 2008, it was unclear what would happen with the owners of the home when my former neighbor flaked and moved out because she couldn't deal with the neighborhood and the issues the house had.
The new owner was kind of a slick-talking RE guy that tried to bamboozle me regarding my property line, since the existing fence (which was in place prior to my purchase and his) is basically abutting my property and eating into the property line (costing me money tax wise, for space I'm not enjoying). I spoke to Mr. Moran and he gave me some insight on how to review the problem, even before I consider hiring his firm to come and stake the property (which I can do and will intend on doing once I can afford to of course).
It turns out, however, that the backyard fence which was also in place in my yard is EXACTLY the measurement he informed the property most likely would be (25 feet parcel, based on his knowledge of the area I live and his professional expertise.barring in mind that he could have been wrong). He couldn't have known that whoever was the prior owner of my home put this fence in place to indicate what the REAL property lines are, so any new owner/neighbor HAS to be aware of this fact.
All I can say is that while I would love to hire a surveyor to stake the property and a lawyer (if required) to fight the street fight for me, at least I'm feeling armed with knowledge and can challenge the SOB real estate slick-talker and not get screwed out of an inch of my property. Thank you so much Mr. Moran for being a human being that is sharp as a tack in his business! The minute I get some $$$ I'm going to have my land surveyed, and I know exactly who I'm calling!
