Founded in 1983 as an engineering machinery design company, Powell Engineering, Inc. quickly found itself manufacturing machinery in the what was then limited to the paper converting industry. The now nearly ever present model EP shaftless unwind was introduced in 1991. Since then we have introduced many models and variations, each one also versatile when it comes special problem solving configurations.
The model EP (Eccentric Pivot) shaftless unwind minimizes downtime between rolls to give you hours more production daily! The time tested proven moneymaker Model EP is used by converters worldwide for increased safety and production. The Model EP is available for rolls up to 10,000 lbs. Unwinds that are capable of being side loaded can benefit greatly from an above or below floor level cart trolley and track. We can help you get your rolls into position quickly. The Powell Engineering Inc. model DU dual roll shaftless unwind is perfect for multiple web applications. These unwinds are typically loaded from the sides using a side loading roll cart.
Powell Engineering Inc.'s Cast Grip™ tapered core chucks are available in single core sizes from 3" to 12". The chucks have a large surface area to support the core and radial fins to transmit torque. The Cast Grip™ chucks have been found to perform better than any tapered chuck we've encountered.
