Atkinson Engineering Inc - Tim Atkinson Pe

My family was worried about some recent cracks and damage seen throughout my home. Mr. Atkinson scheduled a time promptly and was very communicative via phone and email. He does not sell you repairs like a foundation company might, which would bias/color their assessment of your home. He arrived promptly at our home and performed an inspection from top-bottom.

He is wonderful to talk to and extremely knowledgeable. In fact, I think he is active in the engineering community and has written literature/guidelines on the subject used by others. Anyway - Mr. Atkinson gave us peace of mind and an honest opinion on the state of our home. Highly recommended.

A master plumber told me that a custom shower had a basically bad design and was not feasible to repair and use. I asked Dr. Atkinson to please look at it and he found exactly the issues that needed to be addressed in order to repair it and have it work properly. His knowledge and careful explanations showed me he understood what features had to be added or modified in order to fix it correctly.

While he is not a plumber, his structural engineering background and experience, and his measurements of different important elements of the shower, helped me understand the problems we had experienced over several years. I really appreciated getting a highly intelligent, yet humble, and honest person to help me solve this dilemma.

Tim Atkinson was able to provide information on the load a column was holding which allowed us to move forward on a kitchen renovation. He was detailed, kind, and quick in his work. Would hire him again if needed.

When purchasing a new home the inspector noted 2 items that made me uneasy, and suggested I hire a structural engineer to look at them. One was the foundation because of a 2 inch drop and some minor cracking, the other was an issue with stone veneer. I found Tim through a google search, and he was luckily available in a few days to come and inspect the house.

He was punctual, professional, thorough and well worth his fee. As we went through the house he explained what he was looking for, finding, and what it meant. The foundation settlement turned out to not be an issue (I wonder what a foundation repair company would have told me), but the veneer was unstable and is an issue that will have to be addressed.
