Wouldn't recommend using Dynatech unless you're willing to be incredibly insistent in followups for them to even give you a correct proposal for the work you're inquiring about. We ended up hiring NV5 Engineering to do the same exact work Dynatech was dragging their feet on for almost a week, as we found NV5 to be far more responsive, caring, and professional about helping us (a potential client of theirs) Needed 3 soil boring holes done at our home as well as an engineering recommendation to be made, as part of the process of elevating our home. Contacted Dynatech to request an estimate - which they gave us - though noted their estimate cut out at 20 feet for the borings.
We need these borings dug as deep as they need to be, until solid rock is reached (a standard practice, for determining what depth helical piles need to be installed until). E-mailed back Dynatech to let them know we needed a revised proposal which reflected a deeper depth OR a variable rate (i.e. - $___ per foot drilled beyond 20 feet), and they responded back with the must nonproactive and dismissive response - "We are sorry but we are not able to send you a proposal with the specifications you require. Regards, ".
That was their response. Called them to inquire if they were unable to in fact drill down to 30 feet, or potentially more, as part of these borings, to which their receptionist (or whomever responded to that e-mail) replied, "yes, actually we can" (that's not what their response e-mail said). So, again told them very clearly what we needed (3 total borings, up to 35 feet OR until solid rock is reached), and they said they would "have the request put on their engineer's desk that same day", and to "request an answer back soon".
I've now followed up 2 times in the past 2 days, with zero response. I'M somehow chasing THEM to become a potential customer of THEIRS (seems a bit backwards, doesn't it?). Called NV5 Engineering as a result of Dynatech's nonresponsiveness, spoke to a very polite gentleman on the phone who asked a couple questions to make sure he understood our needs, and then received a promise from him that we'd have a proposal back before end-of-day.
He sent us a proposal back within the next 2 hours, which needed one small edit. They were able to get that edit revised within 30 mins of when I called them back to request it. Ended up contracting NV5 Engineering at a very slightly higher rate (which is negligible), solely because of Dynatech's non-responsiveness. I wouldn't recommend choosing Dynatech Engineering unless you plan to chase them multiple times, persistently, to even get an estimate from them for the work you need done. Nobody should ever have to chase their own multi-thousand-dollar purchase.
