Dominca solves problems related to impacts, shock waves, and high strain-rate phenomena with the best analytical, computational, and experimental techniques. We frequently tackle materials that are non-linear and inhomogeneous, as well as strain-rate-sensitive (frequency) and temperature-sensitive. Such materials present complex engineering challenges, requiring advanced theory and intricate simulation. Mechanical filters to shield sensitive devices such as electronics and sensors from shock. Blast mitigation jackets to protect soldiers from explosions, and helmets to mitigate impacts and/or blast waves.
Services
Dominca is a small, entrepreneurial, R&D business. We were established in 1996, in Pasadena, CA. Since 1998, we have been located in Albuquerque, NM, in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains. Mr. Kang is co-founder and principal engineer. He has forty years of experience in the design and analysis of aircraft components, medical devices, and shock/blast mitigation.
Dominca provides technically and economically sound solutions to mechanical, structural, and biomedical problems. We use theoretical, computational, and experimental approaches to satisfy the client's unique goals. Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) characterizes soft or hard materials at high strain-rate.
