Absolutely best buying experience I have had with auto type parts. Great jobs are performed at this place and will be bringing my other dune buggy friends to them. Great service and work. Was very good at sharing his knowledge to let you know what's needed on each job great place!

Brought my 2276 turbo sandrail in to get dyno tuned and to address a few other items. I waited until after the first dune trip to leave a review and it runs extremely well. Very impressed with their work and will be going back to them anytime I need something. Highly recommend

This place is miles ahead of the rest. Dan is extremely knowledgeable from decades of hands on experience. Every VW lover should take their cars here. The last car show I was at every Volkswagen there got services at this shop which speaks volumes. Keep it up CE!

Dan is a VW guru. After a year of my car not being diagnosed correctly Dan was able to isolate the issue and provide the correct repairs. Couldn't be happier

I recently purchased a 67 bus. I wanted to get the oil changed and a overall check. I went to 3 German mechanic shops only to find out they do not work on air-cooled engines so back home to the computer. I found 2 shops so I went to the first. I explained to the guy at the counter that I needed an oil change and I wanted a mechanic to check it out.

Without hesitation the guy through out a date approximately 2 months away. I felt like he was saying that they didn't want to bother with a smaller job so off to the second shop I went. This shop seemed ok so I made the appt. for the following week. That weekend I was at this spot on Mesa and two VW's that looked magazine worthy pulled in so I asked them where they go for service.

The guy said he only trusts one shop Competition Engineering. I immediately called (shop was closed on Saturday) and the owner answered! we made the appt. for the following week. I could not be happier with the services I received. The bus runs so good I had them order disc brakes so I could stop. And they were able to get their upholstery guy to do some small repairs the spot. I would not hesitate to recommend CE to family, friends, air-cooled enthusiast.

There is something to say about the owner Dan. He has helped me in many ways when deciding to go to a street car to a drag race car. Helping me fix up my piece of junk bug! After some hiccups with my horrible communication skills, we had a falling out and didn't speak for years. And during that time I moved to multiple states in the U.S. I had an opportunity to come back to Arizona and relocated back here in late 2020.

I have since gotten out of drag racing (sorta) and switched to a street car with blow through turbo and hope that I can call Dan and have him tune my motor. He is the only one I would trust tuning my turbo motor. So, I am changing my review, because it wasn't right of what I said and hope that Dan will forgive me and not hang up on me :-).

Dan Lawson Is a unbelievable mechanic and knows his stuff he was able to fix everything that other mechanics for an able to do. Very honest and high-quality work just look at my bill it was very professionally done I've never seen such organization

So my Brother had to take his 67 bug back to the shop. Oh not something C.E had done or missed. It was my Brother tying to do as much as he could by himself and making a rats nest out of the wiring under the back seat The owner couldn't have been more helpful or nicer. He even showed my brother where he went wrong & how to fix it. C.E is fantastic. An old school shop with Old school values and customer service. Just about every mechanic shop in the valley could learn a thing or two about business ethics from the people at C.E

Professional, nice, reasonable. cares about your car and providing great service. they know VWs in and out.they treat their customers well. always willing to answer your questions and let you hang around and watch what they are doing so that you can learn something about your car. I take my VW thing here for all my repairs. I tried other VW shops in the valley and had horrible experiences. These guys came highly recommended to me and they have been nothing but amazing. They will take care of your car like it is their own. Amazing people to work with and the work is top-notch quality. They know Volkswagen like nobody's business.

By far the best in town all they do is VW. The best part is that they are super honest and very reasonable pricing. I highly recommend anyone that owns a classic VW. They will not disappoint you.

Was recommended this place for work on my '75 bus and was extremely satisfied. They are very experienced, knowledgeable, and reasonable. They answered a ton of questions I had and were genuinely honest. I felt very comfortable immediately. Super friendly and flexible as well. They arranged for me to drop off on a Saturday outside of business hours and let me keep my bus there for a week while I was out of town. I'd highly recommend to anyone and everyone.

Without a doubt the best place to take your vw beetle. Dan, and his team know their bugs. They are professional, and explaiin everything before they do any work. They were able to fix the things that were screwed up by another vw shop that i have reviewed recently.
